Earth Day is celebrated annually (April 22nd) around the world to bring awareness
to environmental causes, educate others on the importance of creating a more sustainable planet, encourage advocacy, and work to conserve the planet's biodiversity.
My task was to display an illustration of actions that people can do every day to preserve our planet and put it into one large illustration.
The main character holds a sphere in his hands, which is a symbol of our planet. It depicts the ocean with animals, which is one of the global problems of ecology - ocean pollution.
Going to the source, I made a list of things that people can do on a daily basis for the ecology of our planet. For example, eating less meat and donating bottles.
What was surprising and yet such a simple action for me
was the advice to fix all leaky faucets.
Of course, I felt it necessary to depict the use of wind power, energy saving light bulbs,
the proper use of batteries, an electric car, or just a tip: to travel short distances
by bicycle, without a car.
A tip I use all the time in my life is to buy clothes wisely and participate in clothing
swaps and give our outfits a second life!
After sketching the individual characters, I got down
to the overall composition and final sketch:
And finally the final illustration! The palette used was green, which symbolizes ecology.
However, the main character was made in a different color scheme to make an accent.
Let's take care of our planet together!
Even the smallest daily action makes a very big difference. For example, the next time you buy cosmetics, pay attention to the way they are produced.
